(May 16) Drew Harker became the first
Emory University freshman golfer ever to attain All-America
honors. He did so by finishing in a tie for 17th place in
the field of 120 golfers at the NCAA Division III national
championships. Harker shot a 303 for the tournament, the 11th-best
score ever by an Eagle at the nationals and the second best
by a freshman. He shot a 71 on the second day of the tournament,
the low score for Emory. For the season, Harker compiled a
77.5 stroke average per round, the 28th best in school history
and the fourth best by a freshman. He made his college debut
in the Greensboro Invitational last fall with a two-round
score of 146 (75-71), breaking the school record for best
freshmen debut by three strokes.
(April 26) Emory University's Mike
Lebow, a returning All-American, won the University Athletic
Association individual championship with a 153 (78-75). This
was Emory's first individual tournament championship of the
season. This was also Lebow's first tournament win of his
career, and the 4th straight UAA individual championship by
an Eagle. Lebow garnered first team all-UAA honors, also a
first for his career. Lebow helped the Eagles, currently ranked
ninth in the nation, to a second place finish, 3 shots behind
champion Rochester.
(April 12) Emory University’s
Timothy Hamm, a returning All-American, tied for 20th place
out of 90 golfers at the Emory Spring Invitational. Hamm tied
for Emory’s low score with a seven-over-par 151. That
was the second time this season that Hamm has been the low
scorer for Emory. Hamm’s first round score of 74 was
his second lowest this season. He has now shot 14 consecutive
sub-80 rounds. The Eagles ranked eighth nationally, finished
sixth out of 17 teams, ahead of three national top-25 teams,
including the No. 11 ranked team.
(April 4) Emory University's Timothy
Hamm, a returning All-American, tied for 47th place out of
126 golfers at the Camp LeJeune Invitational. Hamm was the
second lowest scorer for Emory with an eight-over-par 150
(73-77). Hamm's first round score of 73 was his lowest this
season. He has now shot 12 consecutive sub-80 rounds. Hamm's
76.7 scoring average ranks second on the team this season.
The Eagles, ranked sixth nationally, finished 12th out of
26 teams.
(March 20) Emory University Junior
Mike Lebow, a returning All-American, shot 220 (74-73-73),
good for 12th place out of 127 competitors. That is the fourth-lowest
score ever by an Eagle in a 54-hole tournament and the lowest
ever at the Golden Isles tournament. Lebow's 12th place finish
placed him ahead of two returning All-Americans and two nationally
ranked top-50 golfers according to GolfStat. Lebow helped
the Eagles to a fourth-place finish out of 24 teams. Emory,
ranked sixth in the nation, finished ahead of No. 9,12,14,19,
and 21 ranked teams nationally.
(March 1) Emory University Junior
Mike Lebow, a returning All-American, finished tied for eighth
place in a field of 109 golfers at the Pfeiffer Invitational.
Lebow was the low scorer for Emory with a nine-over-par 151
(74-77). This was Lebow's fourth consecutive top-10 finish.
Lebow's scoring average of 74.1 ranks first on the team. The
Eagles, who are currently ranked eighth in the nation, finished
10th out of 22 participating teams.
(Oct. 25) Emory University senior
Timothy Hamm, a returning All-American, finished eighth in
a field of 80 golfers at the Division III Preview tournament.
After an opening round 79, Hamm carded two consecutive rounds
of 73 to finish with a 54-hole total of 225. Hamm's 225 is
the 13th lowest score ever by an Eagle, fifth best in the
fall, for a 54-hole tournament. The tournament was held at
the course that will host the Division III Championships later
this season. Emory, ranked fifth in the nation, placed seventh
in a field of 15 teams.
(Oct. 11) Junior Mike Lebow of Emory
University finished tied for second place in a field of 60
competitors at the Gordin Collegiate Classic in Surfside Beach,
SC, a tournament that featured most of the top finishers at
last year’s NCAA Division III Championship. Lebow finished
with a score of 144 for 36 holes, which included a tournament
low of 69 in the opening round. The junior placed ahead of
all eight returning All-Americans from last season. Lebow's
144 is the 10th best score ever by an Emory golfer in a 36-hole
tournament, third best ever in the Fall, and the best ever
at the Gordin Classic.
(Sept. 27) Emory University's Junior
Mike Lebow finished tied for 26th in a field of 93 at the
Guilford (N.C.) Invitational. Lebow was Emory's low scorer
with a 76 in the tournament, which was shortened to 18 holes
due to rain. Lebow was the only Eagle to break 80, as Emory
finished 11th out of 15 participating teams. This was Lebow's
second consecutive sub-80 round in as many tournaments. He
is currently first on the team in scoring average.
(Sept. 20) Emory University's Junior
Tristan Sanders finish tied for sixth place in a field of
119 golfers at the Williams (Mass.) Invitational. Sanders
tied for Emory's low score with a 75 in the 18-hole tournament.
This is the first time in his career that Sanders has placed
first among Emory golfers. Sanders' performance contributed
to Emory's third-place finish out of 23 participating teams.
The Eagles placed fifth in the 2004 NCAA national championships.
