(Nov. 30) The end of the 2004 season
marked the close of the collegiate careers of four Emory University
players--K.C. Conley, Jolene Litzman, Monica Robbins and Katie
Wildermuth. The quartet helped Emory compile a 128-37 record,
including three 30-win seasons, and four NCAA Division III
tournament berths, including a trip to the Final Four in 2003
and the national quarterfinals in 2004.
Conley finishes her Emory career
third in school history in career digs. Litzman was named
to the All-America third team in 2003 and received honorable
mention in 2004.
Robbins finishes her Emory career with the school record in
hitting percentage (.353). She was named to the All-America
second team in 2004 and received honorable mention in 2003.
Wildermuth finishes her Emory career fourth in school history
in digs.
(Nov. 22) Emory University's K.C.
Conley had five digs and two serve aces against Juniata College
(PA), ranked first in the nation, in the quarterfinals of
the NCAA Division III national championships. She led the
team in serve aces and was third in digs for the season.
The senior finishes her career third
in school history with 990 career digs and eighth with 199
career serve aces. She amassed at least 150 digs in each of
her four seasons with Emory, including 386 in her junior year.
Over Conley's four season with Emory, the Eagles had a 123-40
record and made its first appearance in the Final Four (2003).
(Nov. 15) Emory University's Courtney
Rose helped the Eagles advance to the NCAA Quarterfinals by
winning the South region championship. The sophomore tallied
14 kills, nine digs and four serve aces against Washington
and Lee University (VA) to move on to the regional finals.
In the finals, Rose earned her 11th double-double of the season
with 10 kills and 14 digs against Texas Lutheran University.
On the season, Rose has 379 kills and 309 digs. She is the
first Emory player to amass 300 of each in two seasons. With
two seasons of eligibility remaining, she is on pace to amass
more than 1,000 career kills and digs.
(Nov. 8) Emory University's Catherine
Zidow helped her team to a second-place finish in the University
Athletic Association championship. Over the course of five
matches and 14 games played, Zidow tallied 149 assists, 29
digs, 25 kills and 11 blocks. The setter earned Emory's first
triple-double of the season against No. 6 Washington University
(MO) with 42 assists, 13 digs and 11 kills, adding 6 blocks.
In three matches against nationally ranked teams, Zidow amassed
102 assists. The junior has 1,158 assists on the season, eighth
highest in school history. She is fifth all-time at Emory
in career assists with 1,562.
(Nov. 1) Emory University's Monica
Robbins was named to the all-tournament team at the Trinity
(Texas) National Invitational. The senior had 26 kills and
24 total blocks in four matches. In a match against No. 6
Ohio Northern, Robbins tallied 11 total blocks along with
eight kills. Her 11 blocks in a match ranks second in school
history. On the season, Robbins leads the team in total blocks
and is third in kills. With 1,146 career kills and 383 career
blocks, she is one of three Emory players to amass more than
1,000 kills and 300 blocks.
(Oct. 25) Courtney Rose had a .530
hitting percentage in three victories last weekend, helping
Emory University, ranked 12th in the nation, to wins over
the No.1 and No. 3 ranked teams in the nation. Rose compiled
50 kills and 34 digs in three matches. She earned two double-doubles
(10 kills and digs) over the weekend bringing her total to
a team-leading eight on the season. In a 3-1 win over Cal-State
Hayward, ranked third in the nation, the sophomore had a hitting
percentage of .690, amassing 20 kills without making a hitting
error. She also added 14 digs. In a 3-2 win over Wittenberg
University (OH), ranked first in the nation, Rose had 17 kills
and 15 digs. Rose added 13 kills without error and a .650
hitting percentage against the University of Dubuque (IA).
For the season, the outside hitter leads her team in kills
with 276 and is second in digs with 221. In her second season,
Rose is on pace to become the first Emory player to have 1,000
kills and 1,000 digs.
(Oct. 18) K.C. Conley helped Emory
University to a 4-0 record in the second round of the University
Athletic Association round robin. The senior had nine serve
aces and 32 digs on the weekend, including 12 digs in a victory
over New York University, ranked first in the nation. For
the season, the senior leads her team with 50 aces and is
third in digs with 167. Conley is fourth in school history
in career digs with 909 and seventh in aces with 176. Emory
University, ranked 15th in the nation, finished 6-1 in the
conference, earning the second seed in the conference championships.
(Oct. 11) Kristin Anderson
of Emory University recorded a season-high 11 kills along
with a .625 hitting percentage against an NCAA Division II
school. Anderson amassed the 11 kills in 16 attacks with only
one error against West Georgia. Her previous high of nine
kills came against a nationally ranked Division III team.
(Oct. 4) Emory University's
Jolene Litzman had 35 kills over the weekend in three matches
against conference opponents. Litzman helped the Eagles to
a victory over Carnegie Mellon University (Pa.), ranked 25th
in the nation, as she piled up 18 kills. The senior also had
eight kills, a .280 hitting percentage and three digs against
Washington University (Mo.), ranked sixth in the nation. Litzman
is tied for the team lead in kills and hitting percentage.
In her second season of full-time play, she is 13th in school
history in career kills.
(Sept. 27) Emory University's
Courtney Rose helped the Eagles to a first-place finish in
the Emory Invitational. For the tournament, Rose amassed 39
digs and 47 kills with a .339 hitting percentage, including
10 kills and 14 digs against Elmhurst College (Ill.), ranked
22nd in the nation. Rose earned Most Valuable Player and all-tournament
honors for her offensive and defensive play. For the season,
the sophomore outside hitter leads Emory in kills and is third
in digs. In only her second season, Rose is already in the
top 20 in school history for kills and digs. Last season,
Rose became the second Emory player in school history, and
the first freshman, to have 300 kills and 300 digs in the
same season.
(Sept. 20) Emory University's
Katie Wildermuth led the Eagles to two victories over ranked
NAIA opponents last weekend. The senior co-captain had 33
digs over a four-match tournament, including 11 digs against
King College (TN) and nine against Lee University (TN), ranked
seventh in the region and fifth in the nation, respectively.
Wildermuth leads the team in digs (95). She is second on the
team in serve aces (12). The senior ranks 11th in school history
with 635 career digs.
(Sept. 13) Emory University's
Monica Robbins helped the Eagles to a 3-1 record in the Emory
Classic. The senior racked up 37 kills over four matches.
Defensively, she had 13 blocks and 11 digs. Robbins' seven
block assists in one match against Palm Beach Atlantic (FL)
were the fourth most in school history. The middle hitter
was one of two Emory players named to the all-tournament team.
Robbins leads the team in blocks this season with 20 and an
average of almost one per game. Robbins is third on the team
in kills so far this season with 58. She is one of five Emory
players with more than 1,000 career kills.
(Sept. 7) Emory University's Katrina
Damasco was the Eagles' top hitter in their season-opening
tournament at Spring Hill (Ala.). Damasco hit .427 for the
weekend while amassing 54 kills, primarily in two matches.
Against the host school, ranked 24th in the nation in NAIA,
Damasco racked up 26 kills with six errors in 56 attacks.
The 26 kills were a career high and the sixth-highest ever
in a match by an Eagle. Earlier in the same day, Damasco amassed
19 kills with three errors in 28 attacks against Faulkner
(Ala.). She was named to the all-tournament team for her performance.
Last season, Damasco recorded the fourth-highest season kill
total in school history.
