(Nov. 15) Emory University senior
defenders Megan Fox and Lindsay Murphy were part of a defense
that didn't allow a goal in regulation last week in two NCAA
Division III national tournament games. The Eagles' defense
shut out Maryville College (Tenn.) in the first round of the
playoffs allowing only two shots on goal. The Eagles then
shut out Lynchburg College (Va.), ranked No. 10 in the nation,
in regulation, before allowing a goal eight minutes into overtime.
The goal broke a streak of 305 minutes that the Eagles had
not allowed a goal, their second-best such streak this season,
as the opponent scored for the first time since October 31.
Murphy and Fox helped the Eagles defense to nine shutouts
this year as the defense allowed only five goals in the last
11 games.
