Defense
(Nov. 14) Senior captain Andrew Chern turned in a solid performance on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field in Saturday’s NCAA tournament loss to Greensboro College. Chern’s play kept the game close the entire match before the Eagles fell 1-0 to GC. He displayed leadership throughout the year while helping lead the Eagles to a season record of 15-4-0. He finished his career with three goals and 10 assists for 16 points.
Offense
(Oct. 31) Junior Chad Chambers scored two goals over the weekend, upping his total to seven. Chambers scored the team’s only goal Friday in a 2-1 loss to third-ranked Rochester before coming back and scoring a golden goal in Sunday’s overtime win at Case Western Reserve. Chambers stands fifth on the team in goals scored.
Defense
(Oct. 31) Senior goalkeeper Rohit Agarwal recorded another shut-out over the weekend to up his total to 10 shut-outs for the season. Against third-ranked Rochester he finished with nine saves, while recording four saves against Case Western Reserve.
Offense
(Oct. 24) Freshman Patrick McFarland recorded his first collegiate
hat trick on Saturday against Piedmont College in a 6-0 Eagles
win. McFarland now has nine goals on the season, for second
most on the team, which stands 14-1-0 and is ranked 11th in
the country.
Defense
(Oct. 24) Senior Jeff Collins helped led Emory to two shut-out
victories this past week. Collins and the Emory defense dominated
LaGrange College and Piedmont College to up the shut-out total
to 13 through 15 contests. The defense held LaGrange to one
shot, while Piedmont had eight.
Offense
(Oct. 17) Karl Dix became the UAA’s all-time leader in
career assists over the weekend. For his career he has 39 assists,
second all-time at Emory. Against NYU on Friday he recorded
an assist and a goal each. On Sunday against Brandeis he turned
in a solid performance that included two goals and two assists
each. Dix becomes the UAA leader in only three seasons after
transferring to Emory at the start of the 2003 season.
Defense
(Oct. 17) Senior captain Andrew Chern led the Emory defense
to consecutive UAA shut outs over the weekend, defeating NYU
4-0 and Brandeis 7-0. Against NYU the defense allowed three
shots for the match, while Brandeis had six. For the year, Emory
has recorded 10 shut-out victories.
Offense
(Oct. 3) Junior Tai Doan scored his second goal of the year
to help the ninth-ranked Emory Eagles defeat Washington University
by a score of 4-1. Doan scored Emory’s fourth goal of
the afternoon to cap off an impressive offensive performance
by the Eagles. He has been a catalyst for an offensive attack
that is averaging three goals per contest.
Defense
(Oct. 3) Junior Matthew Kaufman turned in a solid defensive
effort Saturday in Emory’s 4-1 win over Washington University
to open conference play. Kaufman and the ninth-ranked Emory
defense have held their 10 opponents to a combined two goals
this season.
Offense
(Sept. 26) Freshman mid-fielder Patrick Carver continues to
provide solid offensive production for Emory. This past week
Carver scored two goals against Shorter in a 3-0 win, one
against Sewanee in a 2-0 victory and the game-winning goal
against Rhodes in a 1-0 victory. For the season Carver has
nine goals to lead the squad.
Defense
(Sept. 26) Senior Jeff Collins continues to lead a solid defensive
unit for the 10th-ranked Emory men’s soccer team. Collins
has been an integral part in a defense that has allowed one
goal through nine games this season. This past week the Eagles
shut out Shorter College 3-0, Sewanee 2-0 and Rhodes College
1-0. Emory stands 9-0 on the season as it prepares to enter
conference play.
Offense
(Sept. 19) Freshman Patrick Carver scored the game-winning
goal against Greensboro College, Saturday in the 83rd minute
to keep the 12th-ranked Emory men’s soccer team undefeated
on the year at 6-0. Carver’s goal came unassisted from
30 yards out. He has scored six goals on the year, with his
high coming against Huntingdon College with four.
Defense
(Sept. 19) Senior goalie Rohit Agarwal continues to play solid
defense in goal for head coach Mike Rubesch. Agarwal recorded
two more saves in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Greensboro
College. The Eagle’s goalie play for the year has limited
their six opponents to just one goal combined, while outscoring
them 22-1.
Offense
(Sept. 12) Senior Karl Dix helped the 17th-ranked Emory men’s
soccer team remain undefeated on the year after scoring four
goals and recoding seven assists during the Eagles three matches
this past week. On Sept. 7 against Huntingdon College, Dix scored
one goal and had three assists as Emory defeated the Hawks 8-0.
Over the weekend Dix scored a goal and assisted on two others
as the Eagles upset 11th-ranked North Carolina Wesleyan 3-1.
In Sunday’s match against Methodist College he came through
with two more goals and assists as the blue and gold blanked
Methodist 4-0. Last season Dix was voted to the all-region first
team, while also garnering first team all-UAA honors.
Defense
(Sept. 12) Junior Brandon Rust continued to be an integral
part of the Emory defense that has only allowed one goal through
five games. The Eagles have outscored their opponents 22-1.
In Saturday’s match against the 11th-ranked North Carolina
Wesleyan Bishops, Rust added to the offensive totals by scoring
on a penalty kick.
(Sept. 6) Sophomore transfer
Joey Howie led the Eagles with two goals and an assist in Sunday’s
6-0 victory over cross-town rival Oglethorpe University. Howie,
a transfer from Southern Methodist University, scored his first
goal of the season as an Eagle with 11:57 left in the first
half to give his team a 3-0 advantage. During the second half
when Emory scored three goals in a span of one minute and 30
seconds Howie recorded two assists. |
