Rubesch also directed Emory women's soccer program in its first two years of existence (1986-87).

Before Emory, he coached boys and girls soccer at Atlanta's St. Pius High School from 1981-84. His boys' teams compiled a 40-6-9 record and made three consecutive trips to the semifinals of the Georgia High School Association state championship.
