Meg Ahrens, Assistant Athletics Director/Student Services
Meg Ahrens has served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Student Services and Membership at Emory University since January 2006. Meg’s duties include overseeing the compliance to NCAA rules, directing the membership office, acting as a liaison for student-athletes to several Emory departments, serving as an advisor for the Varsity Athletes’ Council and performing event management duties. Meg began at Emory in July 2004 as the Coordinator of Memberships and Equipment before being promoted to her current position.
Prior to coming to Emory, Meg was an intern for compliance and event management at the Patriot League Office for the 2003-04 academic year. Her other experiences with collegiate athletics include serving as an admissions office at the University of North Florida, and working in the sports information offices at Jacksonville University (Fla.) and Messiah College (Pa.).
Meg received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature and German Language from Messiah College in 1999. While attending Messiah, she was a three-year varsity starter for the women’s soccer team, garnering second-team all-conference honors in 1996 and 1997, first-team all-conference honors in 1998 and was named to the all-region second team in 1998. Meg was also voted the team’s most valuable player in 1997 and 1998.
Meg received her masters in Sports Studies with an emphasis in athletic administration from the University of Iowa in 2003. While at Iowa, she worked as a teaching assistant in the Physical Education Skills department, a research assistant to the Athletics Director Emerita, and an Event Management graduate assistant in the Athletics Department.
