Rich Porter, Associate Director of Development/Athletics

Rich Porter is the Associate Director of Development/ Athletics for Emory University.  A member of the National Association of Athletic Directors of Development, Rich’s duties include coordinating fund-raising and alumni outreach efforts, along with identifying, cultivating and soliciting philanthropic support from individuals and companies for the Department of Athletics and Recreation.  Rich began at Emory in August 2005.

Rich’s background includes a wealth of experience with college athletics.  Prior to coming to Emory, he spent two years with the Alexander-Tharpe Fund at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he worked with the annual giving and ticket priority program and assisted with special events.  From August 2002 until July 2003, Rich worked with Tigers Unlimited at Auburn University, where he started the Student Tigers Unlimited Fund, and worked closely with the Legends Campaign, a capital campaign to support Auburn Athletics.  Rich also spent one year at the University of Georgia’s (UGA) Athletic Development Office, working with the UGA Scholarship Endowment Program and the Gymnastics Endowment Program, the ticket priority program for UGA’s gymnastics team.

Rich, who is from Lancaster, SC, received his undergraduate degree in Sport Administration from the University of South Carolina in 1999, where he also served as a football manager.  He continued his education at Florida State University, where he worked part-time for the Seminole Boosters Inc., before receiving his masters’ degree in Sport Administration.
