A wise man once said, "Sacrifice opens
the door to excellence". I am that wise man because I just
made up that quote.
Anyway, sacrifice is the reason why my
teammates and I ended our winter break three weeks early. We've
been practicing twice a day for about two weeks now. Besides balling
and working out, we've survived on burritos and Tecmo Bowl.
Our team is steadily improving and we are
beginning to make strides that will take us to the next level.
Last weekend, we traveled to Savannah to
play SCAD. Unfortunately, we started off with a great first half,
but let our guard down in the second half and lost by two at the
buzzer.
Rob "The Godfather" Spivey, known
primarily for his shot precision and confident swagger, was his
usual self from the outside. The Godfather had 18 points on 6 of
12 shooting from beyond the arc.
Chase Fawsett also played well. He had
20 points and more rebounds than Elizabeth Taylor.
I think we learned a lot from the loss,
and will come out hungry and ready to play against Piedmont. We
play them tomorrow night at our house. I am confident that we will
bring our "A" game and get a win.
Our league season starts in about a week,
so we can't afford any more losses if we want to make it to the
promised land. A land where the rims are plated with pure gold and
the nets are woven with the finest silk. I'm talking about paradise.
I'm talking about Salem, Virginia. Until then, be easy everyone.
