We left on a rainy Thursday afternoon with
losses to NYU and Brandeis still fresh in our minds from the weekend
before. Despite one of our best showings against NYU we knew that
we could have played a lot better against Brandeis and were anxious
to show them that.
Unfortunately, our flight was not that
anxious about getting us to Boston. What was scheduled to be a late
afternoon flight did not end up leaving until 7:15 p.m. due to the
weather.
Schoolwork, card games and sparkling conversation
kept the team occupied while stuck in the airport. Eventually, we
arrived in Boston, ate a late dinner, and headed off to what has
become the favorite hotel of the team. After the long day of travel
everyone went right to sleep in the most amazingly comfortable beds
ever!
The next morning we awoke to a few inches
of snow. We had breakfast and then headed to Brandeis for a shootaround.
Despite the snowy and icy conditions we arrived safely at the gym
thanks to Sal, quite possibly the best bus driver this team has
seen. He safely delivered us to the gym while simultaneously reminiscing
with us about his past few trips to Buckhead.
After practice we had some time to rest
at the hotel before we went to eat our pre-game meal. Then it was
game time. The game did not go exactly how we had hoped. We knew
we matched up well with the other team and could compete with them,
but we only demonstrated that in spurts throughout the game rather
than consistently.
After the loss, we watched the guys play,
then headed back to the hotel to get some rest before our trip to
New York. Sal once again had the pleasure of transporting us to
New York City. Once we arrived we had lunch then left for practice.
After practice, we all rushed back to shower
and head out for some shopping. The players were successful in this
venture. However, our coaches were not so lucky. They spent about
a half-hour in the freezing cold trying to catch a cab back to the
hotel. It's a shame that they had to miss some good shopping at
H&M.
Later that evening both the women's and
men's teams went out to dinner at a nice Italian restaurant. Despite
the questionable color of the Sprite, dinner was very good.
The next morning we woke up ready to compete
against NYU. Once again we put up a tough fight against NYU but
were unable to walk away victorious.
After the game we were given money for
dinner and dropped off in Times Square where we had about an hour
or so to walk around and eat dinner. In spite of the cold temperatures,
I think everyone enjoyed the opportunity to see a little bit more
of the city.
After that we were off to the airport to
catch our 9 p.m. flight back to Atlanta. Now its time to get back
to work, both in schoolwork and basketball.
