Sweeping the weekend is a feeling
I haven't experienced in way too long. Last weekend we beat
two good teams that had beaten us convincingly when we played
them at their respective gyms.
After the previous weekend's upsetting
losses to Rochester and Carnegie, we were sitting at 3-6 in
our conference with no chance of winning the league. At our
next practice, Coach Zuver explained to us that because we
did not have a chance of winning league anymore, we had two
options. The first option was to roll over and concede the
season as a failure and not even care how the remaining six
games went. Our second option was to go out there, work hard
and have fun with the rest of our games and end our season
on a positive note.
I guess we really didn't have much
of a choice as to which option we would choose because Coach
told us that we were not going to throw away the season. These
last two games have gotten everyone really excited because
we are finally putting it all together and playing tough,
hard basketball.
Friday night's game was really exciting.
We had a ton of fans thanks to the school promoting the game
the whole week. We played our most complete game of the year
in front of our excited fans. It was later confirmed that
we had 243 more fans than the Atlanta Hawks had at their Friday
night game. After hearing about the size of our crowd, Antoine
Walker demanded to be traded for Jeff Hall but Coach Zuver
decided that they would have to give us more than Walker and
guard Royal Ivey in exchange for Jeff Hall and Alex Ford-Carther.
Sunday's game against Chicago felt
more like a Hawks game, but we had fewer celebrities. You
never know what can happen at one of our games.
This weekend should be exciting.
We are going to Boston and New York. I am thinking about hiring
a security guard to watch Jeff and Shawn Bailey at all times
to make sure they don't run away to try out for a Broadway
show. Jeff and Shawn have an up and coming R&B group (name
still being worked on). To all interested booking agents,
please contact me regarding competitive rates for their performance.
Robbie Wizenberg is a junior from
Los Angeles. He would love to answer e-mail
questions from Emory recruits and fans.
