April 25, 2005
Last weekend was a great way to finish
off our regular season. We had to overcome a few weather challenges,
including a rain delay on Friday and 30-degree weather, unusual
for April, but we did a nice job at staying focused and getting
the job done.
We had a good practice on Saturday
before we left, which I think always helps us get in game
mode. And, of course, we were fueled by Mrs. Eaves' chocolate
chip cookies at the hotel the night before the games.
The weather on Sunday was just as
cold as predicted and we dressed in our puffy jackets and
ear-warmers for the first time since the beginning of the
season. The first game was a little rough, but the team really
opened up and answered Coach's call to dominate in the second
game.
We hit the ball hard in the second
game and Kobe came back for her first start since March to
hold Maryville to no runs for our 4-0 victory. It was really
great to see Kobe's smile back on that mound after being out
for so long.
After the game Coach gave a really
moving speech about the seniors. At the end there were many
tears and hugs, it was almost Senior Day all over again. We
all love and admire our seniors so much and as we wait anxiously
to find out about our post-season we all really hope that
we can get to regionals and win for them. (Special thanks
to Freshman Jess Levy aka the Lev for this wonderful addition
to the diary.)
Tracey Summa is a senior from
Louisville, Ky. She would love to answer e-mail
questions from Emory recruits and fans.
