There really are no words to describe
our disappointment of not getting into the post-season this
year. For the seniors, it was their first time in four years
not receiving a call at the Atlanta Diner from Coach with
the good news. You could hear a pin drop when we found out.
Despite not getting a bid, it's important
to realize how much we have accomplished this year. In Emory's
softball history, this team's record of 32-6 is the second-best
ever. We also finished our regular season ranked number 10
in the country by the NFCA. Sure we have had some disappointing
losses, but more importantly MANY MORE amazing wins.
Off paper, this team was definitely
something special. From our times in Argentina, Orlando for
our UAA tournament, Panama City, Fla., for our frigid spring
break, our three-hour drive from the airport to our hotel
in Los Angeles, and of course, our other team gatherings,
it's impossible to forget the great memories we have shared
together. We even spent our "off" weekends together!
If anything, those who will be back
next year have learned a lot from this year. Teams better
watch out next year, because not getting in to post-season
this year has definitely fueled a fire for us!
As for the seniors, as I know you
have heard about 4,398,574,579 times from each of your teammates
below you, but I just want to say thanks again for everything
you have done for us, and especially this program in general.
Each of you has left your mark in Emory softball forever.
