November 8, 2004

On Halloween night, the team decided that since Coach T didn't dress up for practice (even though we begged her and Coach Ciccone to come as Shrek and Donkey) we needed to show her a little of the holiday spirit.

Around midnight, the team, dressed in dark sweats and with painted faces, drove out to Coach's house and gave her a little Halloween present: toilet paper, all over her house. Somehow, the sophomores managed to keep quiet for the first time in their lives and successfully completed the prank without Coach or any of her neighbors waking up.

Because Monday is our day off, we had to wait until Tuesday morning to see what Coach would say. Katie A. saw her during the day on Monday and she threatened to have us run to her house on Tuesday morning during practice to clean it up.

Fortunately, she was kidding and apparently she was so proud of our work, that she called Coach Ciccone to come over Monday morning to see the damage and told everyone in the athletic department about it. Even though she was amused by the prank, we're still waiting for her revenge to come one of these days.

Wednesday we had our first test against another team. Our scrimmage against Georgia Perimeter showed us that we have a lot to work on, but also showed us how far we've come. We had moments of absolute brilliance and our point guards successfully ran the team to victory in the extra fifth quarter. Despite the mistakes, the scrimmage can only help us and hopefully we've gotten rid of all of our nerves for the next one.

We have less than two weeks until our first game and although we have a lot of work to do before we get there, this team has shown that we will compete this year. I'm confident that our next scrimmage and our first game will be much better than the first because we are all so passionate about the game and now we know what we have to do to be our best. And when the ball is thrown up to start the season, we'll be ready.
