Last week everyone rested on Monday,
our regular day off. Tuesday we all came in, shot free throws,
and got in a quality lift in the weight room.
Wednesday and Thursday it was back
to practice. We worked hard and prepared for our big rematch
with rival Washington University.
The Emory Sports Promotion Team had
done an amazing job bringing out a large crowd for our game
on Friday night. They placed a full page ad in The Wheel and
the campus was crawling with little bears whose shirts read
"Wash Who?"
Before our game, there was a live
band playing outside the gym. Free food and free T-shirts
were also being given away with the ever popular "Wash
Who?" slogan on them. A student section was roped off
in the stands. This was definitely the biggest home crowd
I’ve ever played in front of in my career at Emory.
We really appreciate all the students who came out and supported
the team!
The team was really excited to be
playing in front of a lot of fans for such a big game. We
all really wanted to come out and shock Wash U. Unfortunately,
we started out slowly and built up a large deficit in the
first half.
The second half we played hard, and
in my opinion, we outplayed Wash U. However, the hole we had
dug was too big. Although we were disappointed by the loss,
most of the team hung around to watch the men’s game.
We all sat in the front and cheered our guys on to a victory.
Saturday, it was back to the gym
to prep for our game against Chicago. We felt that this was
definitely a game we could win, especially if we contained
their three-point shooters.
However, things did not go as planned
on Sunday afternoon. It was a disappointing loss, but we have
to move on and get ready for our two big games coming up this
weekend.
