April 10, 2006 - Entry 3

After an exciting run of home games and our lovely Senior Day celebration, we were definitely ready for light week.  Even though we had the weekend off, we couldn’t look past our games against GA Wesleyan on Thursday.  So, we loaded on the buses and made our way to Macon, GA.  With a bus ride over an hour, some of us (myself included) tried to get some work done.  But, as usual, we weren’t so successful.  Softball bus trips are just too much fun!

Getting down to business, we won both games, scoring a total of 27 runs in 10 innings.  Hats off to the offense!!!  The great part about these games was that everyone contributed so much.  From Davie behind the plate to Carey hammering out three triples, I think it’s safe to say that it was a good day for all!  Some of us got to play in different positions than usual, which was a great way to prepare for the post season.

After the games, we had a wonderful dinner at Fuddruckers, especially with a nine dollar limit.  Many of our parents joined us, and we all had to laugh when the loudspeaker announced that “Sandy Bandy’s” food was ready (No, Mrs. Bandy’s first name is not Sandy, but it was funny anyway).  Never a dull moment, team dinners are always a blast!

After finishing out the week with some conditioning on Friday, we had the entire weekend off!!! Some of us went home for some much needed family time and others stayed here, using our free days to catch up and relax.  It was wonderful to have some free time, but somehow we found ourselves doing things together as always.

Many of us went to the baseball game on Sunday and had a blast cheering and eating the free food!  But with a busy couple of weeks heading our way, we knew it was time to get back to work on Monday.  We have some great games coming up that will have a big impact on the rest of the year.

It is such an exciting part of the season.  As Coach reminds us, we are in a pennant race to the finish!  We are so excited for the battles we will have over the next few weeks and the opportunity to earn a spot in regionals.  We know we can do it!  I am so proud of how our team has played this season and I know we will fight all the way to the end!
