We returned from our second away trip in a row Sunday around midnight. Although we are all exhausted from the previous week, we do have something to take and run with from the weekend games.
As usual, we spent this past week with practices starting Tuesday and ending with the glorious morning practice on Thursday. We worked hard, playing against the guys and preparing to play NYU and Brandeis. Thursday morning came around and was surprisingly…fun? Then after a long flight we were too tired to go out to dinner so we ordered some good old New York style pizza.
The next morning we had our usual shoot around and pre-game meal. We had some time to walk around New York City which was really neat because our hotel was located right by Time Square. Some of the freshman made some nice NY friends, yea TK?
We left for the gym around 4 and got ready for the game. Maybe it was the Thursday practice, or the NY delis, or the ugly remarks, but we played an amazing game and beat NYU! It was truly a team effort, and everyone was focused and hungry for a win. After more NY pizza and watching the boy’s game, we had a sound sleep and left for Boston in the morning.
The long, HOT, bus ride was not that bad with a game of catch phrase for the slackers and homework for the studious ones. We got a quick lunch and then headed to the gym for Saturday practice. It was a little hard to get right into it from a long bus ride, but we worked though it and prepared for Brandeis. That night we all went out to dinner and had some amazing bread. Enough said.
Unfortunately the amazing team feeling we had Friday night was not all there Sunday and we fell short to Brandeis. We didn’t recognize the things that were working and didn’t show our best defense. After a painful loss we showered quick, had yet some more pizza, and headed back to Atlanta. Our flight was delayed so we didn’t reach home until around midnight. Monday is our day off and will give us time away so we can come back Tuesday ready and focused to play Brandeis again. We tasted the feeling of working as a team on Friday night and we are ready to bring to practice and to Brandeis for some more wins.
