Running through the streets of downtown Chicago, hurdling garbage cans and dodging people left and right was the scene I found myself in last Friday afternoon. Myself, along with Katie Anding, Kendell Boyd, and Katie Bergfield came up with the brilliant idea of visiting Michigan Avenue in some of our downtime before our game.

Unfortunately, we lost track of time and instead of being late, because with Coach T, “if your on time your late,” we decided to risk injury and book it back to our hotel. Though a few close encounters (Kendell nearly being hit by a car) the sacrifice was well worth the shopping and sites we saw, oh and we made it back right on time.
Road trips definitely have their ups and downs and this weekend was no exception. Coming off two big wins against Brandeis and New York everyone on the team was very excited for the upcoming challenge of Chicago and Washington University, maybe too excited. Collectively we all felt that we let Chicago get away with one last time and were overly determined to beat them. This proved to be the problem on Friday night as we didn’t come together as a team when the going got rough. Shots didn’t fall and unfortunately we let another chance slip by us. Everyone came out hard but things just didn’t go our way.

The next morning we headed to the airport to catch a puddle jumper over to St. Louis. Some of us were a little more excited than others to be flying in such a small plane but we made it safe and sound. Lots of parents were around for the weekend either in Chicago or St. Louis so this added to an adventurous weekend. After practice at Wash U the evening was filled with dinner and a usual round of Catch Phrase for those whose parents were not around. This time we had to play in the lobby because Coach T was a little to loud with her clues in Chicago and we had security called on us twice. Plus, we did not want to be evicted from our hotel since the St. Louis Marriot apparently has a strict 5 person limit to rooms.

Sunday’s game came and once again we were all excited. We played hard but things didn’t click again and we faced another disappointing loss. Thanks to the men’s team going into double overtime we missed our flight and had to take a ten hour bus ride back to Atlanta. We didn’t arrive on campus till 6am that Monday. It was quite the memorable affair. After a disappointing weekend it is back to work to get better for our next two games this coming weekend. I think everyone is excited for the challenge ahead of us.
