GETTING TO KNOW ...

Name: Carey Smith-Marchi (aka "Big C")

Favorite Food: Peaches

Favorite Movie: The Italian Job, Field of Dreams and October Sky

Favorite Television Show: I don't watch much TV, but I like Discovery Health.

Favorite Musical Artist: Skee-Lo, NSA

A word to describe me on the field: Passionate

A word to describe me off the field: Enthusiastic

My most memorable athletic moment was: Urban Blues Softball 2005!! From the beginning every step we marked was a historic milestone for the program. Thank you!

My most memorable Emory athletic moment: Regionals 2006!! It was a whirlwind experience. We played in some of the best games I have ever been apart of! It was so much fun!!

What I like most about Emory: My intimate community of friends.

I would like to switch places for the day with: Amelia Earhart

The best thing about being part of the Emory Softball Team is: My teammates. They have become my family and I cannot imagine my Emory experience without them.

My favorite place on the Emory campus: The Alabama lawn - once graced by a tire swing. Awesome!

Favorite pro athlete:   Tom Brady (wah wah wee wah!)

The sports teams I followed when I was younger: San Francisco Giants

Favorite Sporting Event to Watch: Baseball.

My favorite class at Emory and why: Arms and the Man with Prof. Rambuss - the best freshman seminar ever!

The people who have helped me most at Emory are and why: KS, CW, AW, KB, LW, DD. Always there, through and through.

Any pre-game rituals:  Nope. Not really. I am pretty systematic about my warm up and all of my gear has to be in the same place at the very end of the bench in the dugout.

The sport I would be playing if I wasn’t playing softball: Rowing or maybe cricket?? That might be fun!

Ten years from now I see myself: Who knows?! I like to take life one day at a time...moment to moment...

If I could have dinner with only three people in history, they would be: Gandhi, Jackie Robinson, Huey Newton - passion, courage, determination

The best advice I have ever been given and who gave it to you: "You do not know what you are able to do until you try. Try it in every possible way. Be deliberate, and spontaneous. Be thoughtful, and painstaking, be abandoned, and impulsive. Learn your own possibilities." George Bellows

What is something that very few, if any, people know about you:  "I play 1st base like a pro!"

Carey is a sophomore from Mill Valley, California. She would love to answer e-mail questions from Emory recruits and fans.
