Junior (2007):

Smith experienced a new level of success with Emory during the 2007 season.  After appearing in just 11 games in his first two seasons combined, the junior came out of the bullpen 17 times during the year for the Eagles, the third-most relief appearances on the team.  Smith compiled a 4.56 earned run average and a 1-1 record, earning his first career victory against Maryville College (Tenn.) with three hitless innings during the outing.  He pitched 7.1 postseason innings for the Eagles, including a 3.2-inning outing against The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, helping Emory advance to the National Championship game.  At the University Athletic Association (UAA) Tournament, Smith struck out the side against Brandeis University (Mass.)’s 4-5-and-6 hitters in the fifth inning, en route to tying his career best with four strikeouts in the appearance.

Sophomore (2006):

Smith made five appearances on the mound this season, finishing with an ERA of 5.14 and recording one save.  In seven total innings of work, Smith struck out eight batters, highlighted by striking out three in one inning against Juniata College (Pa.) on Feb. 26.  Recorded a save versus Centre College (Ky.) on March 23.

Freshman (2005):

Freshman pitcher made six appearances, striking out eight batters in 6.2 innings.

Prior to Emory:

Attended Berkeley Carroll High School, where he played on the baseball team for four seasons... Served as the captain of the team during his senior year... Pitched 45 innings in 2004, striking out 50 batters... Part of the ACIS championship team for three seasons... Coached by Walter Paller... Also played basketball in high school.
