honors at the national championships by finishing sixth in
the 1650-yard freestyle for the second year in a row. His

that event in school history. Weissman also earned All-America
citations with an eighth-place finish in the 500-yard free

the NCAA provisional qualifying mark in four events--500 freestyle,
1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly. Weissman
finished fifth among the team's 32 competitors for most points
earned in dual and championship meets. He was twice selected
as the Emory Athlete of the Week. His time of 15:54.63 in

third-fastest individual in school history in that event.

finish in the 200-yard backstroke to become an All-American.

Quote:
"If you said to me in high school
that I would be swimming for Emory University, I would have
laughed in your face. Emory is in my backyard; my mother works
in the medical school and my house is a short drive from campus.
I started to get in contact with Emory coaches and was soon
brought up to speed on what Emory swimming has accomplished.
This was news to me! Here I had a great academic venue with
a thriving athletics program that fit my desire to excel in
swimming, and it was literally under my nose. My doubts and
trepidation of Emory being too close to home were quickly
alleviated by a phenomenal recruiting trip. So here I am an
Eagle, and couldn't be more satisfied."
