Senior (2005-06):
Burke, a senior, earned All-America honors for the fourth consecutive season. This season he earned two All-America certificates and one All-America Honorable Mention honor. His All-America certificates were earned with his seventh place finish in the 200-yard backstroke and his eighth place finish in the 200-yard individual medley. Burke earned three All-Conference honors this season including the title of Conference Champion in two events. His Conference Champion titles were earned with his first place finishes in the 200-yard backstroke and the 400-yard individual medley
Junior (2004-05):
Burke, a junior, earned All-America
honors for the third consecutive year. This season he earned
three All-America certificates--200-yard backstroke and the
200- and 400-yard individual medleys. He finished third in
the 200-back and seventh and eighth in the 400 and 200 IM,
respectively. Burke's time in the 400 IM at the University
of Georgia Fall Invitational was the fastest on the team this
season. Burke currently holds the fastest two times in school
history for this event. Burke finished 11th out of 40 competitors
on the team this season in points scored at dual and championship
meets.
Sophomore (2003-04):
Burke, a sophomore, earned his third
career All-America certificate by finishing eighth in the
200-yard backstroke at the national championships. He earned
All-America honorable mention recognition in the 400-yard
individual medley. His time of 4:01.49 in the 400 IM broke
the school record. Burke was eighth on the team out of 32
competitors in points scored in dual and championship meets.
He was voted the team's Most Competitive Performer.
Freshman (2002-03):
The freshman earned two All-America
certificates at the NCAA national championships with a fourth-place
finish in the 200-yard backstroke, and an eighth-place finish
in the 400-yard individual medley. He also received honorable
mention All-America recognition in the 200-yard individual
medley. Burke finished the season in sixth place among the
team's 32 competitors for most points earned in dual and championship
meets. His time of 4:01.61 in the 400-yard individual medley
was the fastest time of the season by an Emory swimmer. He
set a school record in the 400-yard individual medley at 4:01.61
at the NCAA championships. Burke's time of 1:50.50 in the
200-yard backstroke at the NCAA nationals is the fourth fastest
in Emory history. He received two team awards for Most Competitive
Performer and Rookie of the Year.
