Senior(2005-06):
Senior center Katie Bergfeld started 12 games this season. She leads the team in blocks per game averaging 0.7 blocks per game. Bergfeld is third on the team in rebounding, averaging 5.1 rebounds per game. Defensively Bergfeld is ranked second on the team grabbing 2.8 rebounds per game. Offensively Bergfeld is ranked third on the team for rebounding on the offensive boards. Bergfeld improved her free throw shooting from .559 percent to .625 percent this season. Bergfeld grabbed a season high of 13 rebounds against Oglethorpe University on November 21, 2005. She shot a season high of 13 points versus University Wisconsin-Oshkosh. During the season Bergfeld improved in free throw percentage and field goal percentage shooting from 39.0 percent to 45.6 percent and 55.9 percent to 62.5 percent, respectively.
Junior (2004-05):
Katie Bergfeld ranked ninth in the
University Athletic Association in rebounding. The junior
led the team in rebounds this season averaging a career-high
6.8 rebounds per game. She led the team in rebounding in 14
of Emory's 25 games. Bergfeld was third on the team in points,
field goal percentage, and blocks. She scored 7.2 points per
game this season, a personal high. Bergfeld narrowly missed
a "double double" against nationally15th ranked
Brandeis (Mass) on Feb. 18 when she scored 10 points and grabbed
nine rebounds. She pulled down her career-high 13 rebounds
twice this season, on Feb 6 against Carnegie Mellon (Pa.)
and Feb 22 against Piedmont (Ga.). Bergfeld scored her season-high
20 points against Case Western Reserve (OH) on Feb. 28. She
scored in double digits in five games this season.
Sophomore
(2003-04):
Katie Bergfeld averaged 3.4 points
per game, and her 3.0 rebounds per game ranked her fourth
among her teammates. Her conference play stood out in both
contests against nationally ranked Washington University (MO).
On January 16th, she grabbed her season high of seven rebounds
and scored eight points in 16 minutes against Washington,
ranked seventh in the nation at the time. Bergfeld scored
her season high of nine points and tied her season high of
seven rebounds in 16 minutes on February 15th during the team's
second match against Washington, ranked eighth in the nation
at the time.
Freshman (2002-03):
Katie Bergfeld appeared in 25 games
and started in 11 games during her first season with the Eagles.
She averaged 2.5 rebounds and 3.2 points per game. Bergfeld
made an especially strong showing against Piedmont College
on December 14, 2002, when she totaled 21 points and nine
rebounds.
