Freshman (2007):

Van Pelt was a key reserve for the Eagles’ defense during her freshman campaign.  She played in 15 games, making four starts during the year, including three in University Athletic Association (UAA) games.  She helped an Emory defense that recorded 13 shutouts and a 0.48 goals against average for the season, the 11th-best mark in the country.  Van Pelt helped Emory hold their opponents to just over three shots on goal per match, and outscore teams 47-10 during the season.  She had one assist during the year, coming on the game-winning goal during the Eagles’ NCAA Tournament win over Hardin-Simmons University (Texas).

Prior to Emory:

Played for four seasons on the Saint Andrew's School Women's Soccer Team, serving as the captain during her junior and senior seasons... Named to the Palm Beach County All-Star Team in 2007, and led her team to the state championship during the season... Was a News Channel 5 Athlete of the Week during the 2007 season... Was named to the All-Palm Beach County Team in 2005, 2006 and 2007... Was the Most Valuable Player in 2006... Coached by Stacy Dent in high school... Played for the Team Boca club team, where she was coached by Steve Nugent... Also played varsity volleyball in high school.
