Senior (2004-05):
For the third year in a row senior
Hillary Lane earned five All-America citations, at the national
championships. She has 17 career All-America certificates,
the most in school history. Lane placed sixth in the 50-yard
freestyle at the NCAA national championships. Lane is the
fastest individual in school history in the 50-yard and 100-yard
freestyle events. She was a member of the All-American 200-
and 400-yard freestyle relays and the 200- and 400-yard medley
relays. Lane won two individual and two relay events, at the
conference championships.. She placed first in the 50- and
100- yard freestyle events and swam a leg on the first-place
200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relay teams. Lane was
named the national Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com
on October 18, 2004 for her performance the previous week.
Lane was the first on the team out of 39 competitors in points
scored in dual and championship meets.
Junior (2003-04):
Junior Hillary Lane earned five All-America
citations and was a five-time conference champion. She has
12 career All-America certificates, the third most in school
history. Lane placed sixth in the 50-yard freestyle and eighth
in the 100-yard freestyle at the NCAA championships. Her time
of 52.07 seconds in the 100 free broke the school record.
She was a member of the All-American 200- and 400-yard freestyle
relays and the 200- and 400-yard medley relays. Lane was conference
champion in the 50 free and on four relays. She led the team
in points scored in dual and championship meets.
Sophomore
(2002-03):
Sophomore Hillary Lane earned five
All-America certificates at the national meet, the most of
any Emory swimmer. She now has seven career All-America citations,
the eighth most in school history. At the NCAA nationals,
Lane finished eighth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time
of 24.03 seconds, the ninth-fastest time in school history.
She also swam the freestyle leg on four relays that finished
in the top-eight at NCAA nationals (200 free, 400 free, 200
medley and 400 medley). Lane finished the season with the
second most points scored among the 33 Emory swimmers in dual
and championship meets. She now holds five of the 10 top times
in school history in both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events.
Freshman (2001-02):
Lane was a member of Emory's All-America
relay in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle events. The former
finished third and the latter seventh at the NCAA Division
III national championships. At the Miami (Ohio) Invitational
in November, Lane broke the school record in the 50- and 100-yard
freestyle events. Lane ranked sixth among the team's 37 competitors
for points scored in dual and championship meets this season.
