Senior (2005):
Alberelli became the third Eagle
ever to earn All-America honors in both singles and doubles
in back-to-back years. She finished 14th in the final national
singles rankings compiled by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association
and fifth in national doubles rankings along with teammate
Jamie Chan. Alberelli advanced to the round of 16 in both
the NCAA Division III national singles and doubles championships.
She was awarded the No. 6 seed for the NCAA singles championship
based on her play in the regular season. The senior finished
with a 16-12 record in singles and was 17-6 in doubles with
Chan. Alberelli is one of two players to have played in every
finals for Emory's current streak of three consecutive national
team championships. She played No. 5 singles for the 2003
national champs, No. 3 in 2004 and No. 1 this season. Alberelli
clinched the deciding team point in its NCAA quarterfinal
win this season against Redlands (Calif.). She had seven wins
this season in singles against opponents from teams ranked
in the top 20 nationally. Alberelli was chosen the regional
winner of the ITA's Arthur Ashe Jr. Award for sportsmanship
and leadership. The ITA ranked her fourth in the region among
singles players and first (with Chan) among doubles pairings.
She was voted the conference Most Valuable Performer. She
finished her career as a four-time all-conference honoree
in singles and three times in doubles. Alberelli graduated
in eighth place on the school's all-time list for career singles
wins (72), ninth in career singles win percentage (.758),
fifth in career doubles wins (77), and fifth in career doubles
win percentage (.794).
Junior (2004):
Alberelli, a junior, not only became
an All-American for the first time in her career, but also
became the sixth Emory player ever to attain All-America status
in singles and doubles in the same year. She advanced to the
quarterfinals of the NCAA singles championship and to the
finals of the NCAA doubles championship (the latter with teammate
Margaret Moscato). As a result, Alberelli was eighth in the
final national singles rankings and second in the national
doubles rankings. Last fall, she and Moscato finished third
in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national doubles
championship. The duo combined for a 32-5 doubles record this
season, a school record for doubles wins and the fourth-best
ever doubles win percentage. Alberelli was 18-4 in singles
this season. Alberelli was fifth in the final regional singles
rankings, a jump from last season when she was not among the
28 players listed in the regional rankings. Alberelli's emergence
led to her winning the national "Player to Watch"
award from the ITA and her team's Most Improved Player award.
She was selected to the all-conference team in singles for
the third time and in doubles for the second time. Alberelli
has career records of 56-11 in singles and 56-14 in doubles.
She stands 15th place on the school's all-time list for both
career singles wins and career doubles wins. She is on pace
to place third in career doubles win percentage (.800) and
seventh in career singles win percentage (.836).
Sophomore (2003):
Sophomore Carina Alberelli finished
the season with a 21-3 singles record, including 13-2 against
opponents from NCAA Division III national top-20 teams. Her
21 singles wins win is the 26th-best in school history and
her .875 winning percentage is the ninth-best ever at Emory.
Alberelli was named to the all-conference first team at No.
4 singles and No. 3 doubles, the second consecutive year she
has been first-team all-conference at No. 4 singles. In two
seasons for the Eagles, Alberelli has compiled a 38-7 career
singles record (.844 winning percentage), the fourth-best
career record and 28th-most wins in school history.
Freshman (2002):
Named first team all-UAA for singles.
Named the team rookie of the year. Alberelli completed her
first year of collegiate tennis with a 17-4 singles record
at the No. 5 spot for the Eagles. Her singles win percentage,
