Junior (2005):
Did not participate in any intercollegiate
matches.
Sophomore (2004):
Compiled 6-1 record in singles,
including a 2-1 mark against opponents from teams ranked in
the top 10 nationally. Her only singles loss was to teammate
Margaret Moscato in the quarterfinals of the Intercollegiate
Tennis Association regional championships. Powell was a winner
in straight sets in her singles matches against opponents
from teams ranked No. 7 and 10 in the nation.
Freshman (2003):
Powell made the all-conference first
team at No. 3 doubles. At the conference championships, she
stepped in at No. 3 doubles due to a lineup change and won
her matches in the semifinals and finals. In the latter match,
Powell and her partner were 8-5 winners to help Emory beat
the No. 9 ranked team in the nation and win its 16th consecutive
conference title. Powell ended the season with a 6-1 singles
record, 3-1 against opponents from national top-20 Division
III teams. She was 8-1 in doubles play, 4-1 against national
top-20 teams.
