Sophomore (2005):
Lai compiled a season record of
13-1 in singles. Her only loss was to an Emory teammate in
the semifinals of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional
championships. She had three singles wins against opponents
from schools ranked in the top 20 nationally. This spring
she was a perfect 7-0 in singles, losing only three games
combined in those seven matches. Lai was 11th in the ITA mid-season
regional singles rankings.
Freshman (2004):
Compiled 6-1 record in singles,
including a 4-1 mark against opponents from teams ranked in
the top 15 nationally. Her only singles loss was to teammate
Margaret Moscato in the round of 16 of the Intercollegiate
Tennis Association regional championships. Lai was a winner
in straight sets in her singles matches against opponents
from teams ranked No. 5, 7, 9 and 14 in the nation.
