Emory University finished fifth at the NCAA Division III national championships, matching its highest finish in school history. This is the fifth time in eight years that Emory placed in the top 10 at the Division III national championships.

The Eagles shot 1194 (300-306-296-292) for the four-day tournament, the lowest score in school history at the NCAA tournament in nine appearances. The previous school record was 1202 by the 1998 squad.

In the NCAA championships, Emory finished ahead of six teams ranked in the top 10 in the final national regular-season poll. The Eagles placed ahead of 20 of the top-25 ranked teams. Emory was ranked ninth nationally in that poll.

Junior Timothy Hamm became the fifth Eagle ever to earn All-America honors. Hamm, a second-team All-American, did so by finishing seventh out of 120 golfers with a 72-hole score of 294 (six-over-par). His 294 is a school record at the NCAA tournament. Hamm shot a 71 on the final day, third-best ever by an Eagle in an NCAA championship.

Sophomore Mike Lebow made the All-America third team by finishing in 18th place. Lebow shot a 299, the fourth-best ever by an Eagle at the national championships. This is the second time in school history that two Eagles have attained All-America status in the same year. This is the first time two Emory golfers have bettered 300 in the same NCAA tournament.

Senior Jason Scherr placed 19th with a 300. After opening with a 79 that left him in 61st place, Scherr rallied by shooting 72-72 the last two rounds. Only five golfers had lower scores than Scherr's combined 144 the final two days.

Scherr later received honorable mention All-America honors in recognition of his regular-season performance. Scherr finished the season with a 73.7 stroke average per round, breaking his own school record, 74.7, set last season. He now owns three of the four lowest season averages in school history.

On the last two days, Emory shot 296 and 292, a combined score of 588 that was bettered by only one team. Emory's 292 was the second lowest in school history for any tournament.

As a team, Emory set a school record by averaging 298.8 for the season, breaking the previous mark of 302.9 set last season.

Emory won the University Athletic Association championship for the third consecutive year and the ninth time in 10 years. Hamm (75-76=151) was the individual tournament champion, beating out Scherr (77-74=151) on the first playoff hole. This is the 11th time in school history that an Eagle has won the individual UAA championship.

Chris Clarke
The freshman made the all-tournament team at the Oglethorpe Invitational where he placed fifth overall. Clarke averaged 77.70 shots per round this season. His best round was 70 at the Camp Lejeune Invitational I and his best 36-hole tournament score was 147, also at Camp Lejuene.

Timothy Hamm
Junior Timothy Hamm became the fifth Eagle ever to earn All-America honors. Hamm, a second-team All-American, did so by finishing seventh out of 120 golfers with a 72-hole score of 294 (six-over-par) at the NCAA championships. His 294 is a school record at the NCAA tournament. Hamm shot a 71 on the final day, third-best ever by an Eagle in an NCAA championship. Hamm won the conference individual championship by beating out teammate Jason Scherr on the first playoff hole. Hamm's conference title is the 11th ever by an Eagle in the conference's 17-year history. As a result, Hamm was named to the all-conference team for the first time in his career. Hamm finished eighth in the Georgia Cup, based on season-long performances in selected tournament by NCAA Division III golfers. He recorded the third-best season scoring average, and a personal best, in school history with his season stroke average of 74.84 shots per round. He shot under 77 in 19 of his 25 rounds this season. Hamm's season-best round was 69 at the Pfeiffer Invitational, and his best score for a 36-hole tournament was 142 (done twice), tying the fifth-best score in school history. He finished in the top 10 in five tournaments and the top 20 in six tournaments. In addition to winning the conference, Hamm also was a co-medalist, along with teammate Jason Scherr, at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Invitational. That made him the sixth Eagle golfer ever to win two tournaments in a single season. Hamm had a season won-loss record of 779-221. His career scoring average, 77.49, puts him on pace to finish ninth all-time in the Emory record book.

Mike Lebow
Sophomore Mike Lebow made the All-America third team by finishing in 18th place out of 120 golfers at the NCAA championships. Lebow shot a 299, the fourth-best ever by an Eagle at the national championships. He averaged 77.35 strokes per round this season. His best round was 71 at the Emory Invitational and his best 36-hole tournament score was 147 at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Invitational. He finished in the top 10 at three tournaments and in the top 20 at six tournaments. Lebow's highest finish overall was fifth place at the Oglethorpe Invitational.

Brian Nixon
Nixon finished 36th out of 120 golfers at the NCAA championships. He was named to the all-region team for the first time in his career and to the all-conference team for the second time. Nixon finished fourth in the Georgia Cup, based on season-long performances in selected tournament by NCAA Division III golfers.Nixon recorded the fourth-best season scoring average, and a personal best, in school history with his season stroke average of 75.05 shots per round. He shot under 77 in 14 of his 20 rounds this season. Nixon's season-best round was 69 at the Pfeiffer Invitational, and his best score for a 36-hole tournament was 140, tying the second-best score in school history. He finished in the top 10 in three tournaments and the top 20 in six tournaments. Nixon's highest finish overall was third at the conference championships. He had a season won-loss record of 667-171. His career scoring average, 76.96, places him fifth all-time in the Emory record book.

Dan Ofman
Ofman made the all-conference team for the first time in his career. He did so by finishing sixth at the University Athletic Association championships. He averaged 77.05 shots per round this season, 20th best in school history. Ofman's best round was 69 at the Pfeiffer Invitational. He was the team's low scorer at the Gordin Collegiate Classic, which brings together the top teams from the previous year's NCAA championships. Ofman shot rounds of 69 and 77 at the Gordin to finish 10th out of 60 golfers. At the NCAA championships, Ofman was 51st out of 120 golfers. His four-day score of 309 at nationals was the 18th best ever by an Emory golfer at the NCAA tournament.

Jason Scherr

He now owns the three of the four best season scoring averages in Emory history. Scherr shot under 80 in all 25 of his rounds this season, and under 77 in 21 rounds. He finished in the top 10 in five tournaments this season and in the top 20 in all but one of his 12 tournaments (the only miss being 24th place). Scherr was the co-medalist, along with teammate Timothy Hamm, at the Mary Hardin-Baylor Invitational. He also was the medalist at the Oglethorpe Invitational. That made him the fifth Eagle golfer ever to win two tournaments in a single season. He broke another of his school records by shooting a 66 at the Camp Lejeune Invitational I. For the season, Scherr had a won-loss record of 904-116. He graduates with a career scoring average of 74.43, another school record.
