2003-04
It was a season marked by transition for
Emory University. With a new coaching staff, six first-year players,
and only two upperclassmen, the team finished the season with a
9-16 record.
Two players received end-of-the-season
recognition from the University Athletic Association. Senior Stephanie
Seibert was named to the all-UAA second team, while freshman Beth
Bergmann received honorable mention. In conference games, Seibert
ranked second in rebounds and blocked shots, and Bergmann was second
in free throw percentage.

Katie Anding
Freshman Katie Anding received the team's Sixth Player Award. She
hit 15 of 18 free-throws for an 83.3 percentage, and she had a 35.0
three point percentage. Anding finished fifth on the team in steals
and averaged 2.8 points per game.
Katie Bergfeld
Katie Bergfeld averaged 3.4 points per game, and her 3.0 rebounds
per game ranked her fourth among her teammates. Her conference play
stood out in both contests against nationally ranked Washington
University (MO). On January 16th, she grabbed her season high of
seven rebounds and scored eight points in 16 minutes against Washington,
ranked seventh in the nation at the time. Bergfeld scored her season
high of nine points and tied her season high of seven rebounds in
16 minutes on February 15th during the team's second match against
Washington, ranked eighth in the nation at the time.
Beth Bergmann
Bergmann finished fifth in the nation for best free throw percentage,
88.7 percent. That was the second-best season percentage in school
history. The team's Rookie of the Year, Bergmann received all-conference
honorable mention from the University Athletic Association. Her
free-throw percentage in conference play ranked second in the UAA.
She had team highs in assists (3.0) and steals (1.8) per game, three-point
field goals made (40), and free throws made (63) while ranking second
on the team in scoring (11.9 points per game) and free-throw percentage
(88.7%). Bergmann achieved her career high in scoring against LaGrange
(Ga.) on February 24th when she helped her team win by scoring 28
points. Bergmann had double-digit scoring in 16 of 25 games.
Alex Breedlove
Alex Breedlove was named the team's Most Improved Player. She converted
52.1 percent of her field goal attempts (25 of 48), and she ranked
third on the team in blocked shots. Breedlove averaged 2.3 points
and 2.4 rebounds per game. On December 13th, she helped her team
defeat Oglethorpe (Ga.) by scoring 15 points and grabbing seven
rebounds, both season highs, in 11 minutes of play. Breedlove played
in all 25 games during her second season.
Beth Byron
Senior Beth Byron played in all 25 games this season, averaging
5.1 points per game and finishing second in three point field goals
(33). She scored her season high of 14 points on February 24th in
a win over LaGrange College (GA). Byron finished her Emory career
by ranking third in career three-point field goals and sixth in
scoring.
Lynn Oberschmidt
Lynn Oberschmidt received the Coaches' Award at the conclusion of
her second season. She averaged 10.9 points per game and finished
second on the team in rebounds (6.2), assists (2.2), steals (1.0),
and blocked shots (0.8) per game. Her conference play was highlighted
in both contests against Carnegie Mellon. On January 25th, Oberschmidt
helped her team defeat Carnegie by scoring 17 points and grabbing
six rebounds. She assisted her team in another Carnegie victory
on February 20th by pulling down 16 rebounds, a team season high
she shared with Stephanie Seibert. Oberschmidt finished second on
the team in field goal percentage, converting 46.7 percent of her
field goals. Her 51.8 career field goal percentage sets her on pace
to finish second in Emory history in career field goal percentage.
Oberschmidt achieved double-digit scoring in 14 of 25 games.
Stephanie
Seibert
Senior Stephanie Seibert was named to the all-University Athletic
Association second team, making it her fourth consecutive year to
receive end-of-the-season recognition from the UAA. She ranked first
in rebounds and second in blocked shots in conference play. Seibert
was named the team's Most Oustanding Player. She averaged 12.5 points,
9.3 rebounds, and 1 block per game, all team highs. Seibert recorded
nine "double-doubles" for the season, an achievement surpassed
by only four other players in Emory history. Her season high of
24 points helped the team defeat Carnegie Mellon on February 2nd.
Seibert finished her Emory career by ranking second in career points,
field goals, rebounds, and blocked shots.
