"There are a lot of reasons why Emory is the perfect place for a student-athlete. I must say that in the end, I still loved tennis as much, if not more, than I did the day that I started out as a nine-year-old. I still lived my life, went out with my friends, got a great education, and played the game that I loved at a very competitive level. I wouldn't have done all of the same things at a Division I school, because tennis would have owned me. Instead I owned me, and tennis was something that I wanted to do. There were no scholarship obligations or related pressure at Emory. This was all for me."
